  • 1. What are the requirements to change the first surname (paternal)?

A copy of the civil registry of birth with which a public deed of name change is requested in the notary where it was registered. After the modification of the original civil registry, a new one with a different serial will be obtained.

  • 2. Can I change my name if my parents already did it when I was a minor?

Yes. The law allows a person of legal age (above 18) to change name only once (except for sex change), if the parents had already changed the name when being a minor.
